On the other hand, my strong impression is that there's been an increase in untenured lateral movements–several schools that advertised for rookies, and indeed interviewed at the "meat market," ended up hiring untenured laterals–not surprising, given that the tight market the last few years means many candidates probably underplaced to how they would have done in normal times.
