In addition to the separate posts announcing (generally tenured) faculty moves, I will keep a running list of all lateral moves (and retirements and deaths) not reflected in the faculty lists for the 2024 PGR (some moves that took place after the 2024 PGR were reflected in the faculty list, because the editors knew of them–the ones listed here were not reflected in the faculty lists evaluators saw).  I will start a new list for each academic year, so that the list does not get unwieldy (the 2024-25 listing is here).   This year’s list reflects moves effective in 2026 (usually summer/fall 2026, when sooner or later, that is noted).  I will move this to the front periodically, putting recent additions in bold.  Untenured lateral moves will be noted as such, otherwise the move is with tenure.  A lateral move is one from one tenure-stream position to another either into or out of a program offering the PhD or terminal MA.  In addition I will list retirements and also deaths of non-emeritus faculty.  Please e-mail me with additions or corrections.

Nilanjan Das (Sanskrit philosophy, epistemology) from the University of Toronto to Cornell University (effective January 2026).

Philip Ebert (epistemology, history of analytic philosophy) from the University of Stirling to the University of Salzburg (effective February 2026).

Manon Garcia (feminist philosophy, Continental philosophy) from the Free University of Berlin to the University of Frankfurt (effective March 2026).

Megan Hyska (social philosophy of language, metaphysics, and epistemology) from Northwestern University to the University of Leeds.

Pierre Keller (Kant, 19th- and 20th-century Continental philosophy) retired from the University of California, Riverside on July 1, 2025.

Kareem Khalifa (philosophy of science) from the University of California, Los Angeles (Philosophy) to the University of Pittsburgh (HPS) (effective fall 2027).

Harvey Lederman (logic, philosophy of language, epistemology, Chinese philosophy) from the University of Texas, Austin to New York University.

Stephen Menn (ancient philosophy, medieval philosophy) from McGill University to the University of Toronto (effective January 2026).

Mona Simion (epistemology) from the University of Glasgow to Oxford University (effective January 1, 2026).

Changes in the senior ranks (from this year and last) typically affect specialty rankings, although can also affect the “overall” rankings (e.g., Texas may drop out of the top 10, but will certainly remain in the top 15 [it depends a bit on what happens at peer programs]; Stanford is likely to drop out of the top 15, but will remain in the top 20).
