Menn from McGill to Toronto

Stephen Menn (ancient and medieval philosophy [including Islamic philosophy]), currently at McGill University, will take up a Chair in History of Philosophy at the University of Toronto, effective January 2026. (He will continue to be an Honorary Professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin, where he spends the summer term each year.) Professor Menn tells me he will take leave from McGill, so there is still some possibility he may return to McGill, where he has taught for many years.

Toronto already has one of the best programs in both ancient and medieval philosophy in the Anglophone world, and Menn’s appointment will boost that status even further.
