For those attending the Chicago APA, some restaurant recommendations

Easily walkable from the Hilton Palmer House: The Gage

Longer walks (15-20 minutes) or short Uber rides:

Umai (takes reservations for larger groups)

Sunda (River North)

Purple Pig

Longer Uber ride (25 minutes or so) (but this is the best restaurant in Chicago in this price range):

Han 202

Chicago readers, feel free to add others (note the conference is at the Hilton Palmer House in the Loop–please make a note if recommended restaurants are quite far away).

  1. Jims Original on Union Street, just off of Roosevelt Rd (near UIC, an Uber ride)

Al’s Italian Beef on Taylor Street, near UIC (uber)

Rubi Tacos on 18th Street (in Pilsen)
Ghin Khai Eats Rice on 26th Street (west of Pilsen)
    Both require Uber

Tacotlan on Fullerton Ave (northwest side of Chicago) definitely Uber.

Marz Community Beer (great beer and tacos) – off of 31st. South Side of Chicago
    Definitely Uber

Green Street Smoked Meats (the Loop)
    Uber

    1. For those not from Chicago, note that many of these places (some of which are quite well-known) are much more informal than the restaurants I listed. I never much liked “Italian beef,” but Al’s is the place for it!
