In Memoriam: E. Clinton Bamberger (1926-2017)
Emeritus at the University of Maryland, Bamberger represented the defendant in the Supreme Court case that gave us the "Brady rule" in criminal procedure, requiring the prosecution to disclose to the defense evidence that might help the accused. In Memoriam: Roger Cramton (1929-2017)
Former Dean of Cornell Law School, he also taught at the Universities of Chicago (from which he graduated) and Michigan. His scholarly work was in the areas of legal ethics and conflicts, and he also held several important public service posts during his career. The Cornell memorial notice is here.

In Memoriam: Phil C. Neal (1919-2016)
The antitrust scholar and litigator served as Dean of the University of Chicago Law School from 1963 to 1975, a crucial period of hiring for the law school that set the stage for Chicago's later dominance of law & economics. Chicago's memorial notice is here.

In Memoriam: Jeffrey Jackson
Professor Jeffrey Jackson, of the Mississippi College School of Law, passed away on April 26. He joined the Mississippi College faculty in 1987 and developed a deep expertise in Mississippi law. He was 59 years old. His obituary can be downloaded from here.

In Memoriam: Elizabeth Garrett (1963-2016)
Professor Garrett, the President of Cornell University since 2015, died of colon cancer. She was previously Provost of the University of Southern California, and a professor of law there and at the University of Chicago. A truly tragic turn of events. Professor G. William Rice, of the University of Tulsa College of Law, passed away yesterday. He was an expert in Native American rights and American Indian Law, among other things. Rice joined the Tulsa faculty in 1995.
