Bush Fashion

William Edmundson (Georgia State Law & Philosophy) writes:

“Your blog readers may not yet have seen what Bush’s couturiers have come up with for their Fall collection. Check it out here.

“Of particular interest is the “W, the President” collection. The striking simplicity of the bumper sticker design,
has an unsettling power, especially when displayed (as I first saw one) on the back of a late model Mercedes-Benz.

“Better yet is the travel mug, whose outward, ascending flare reminds me of a satirical cartoon of the doorway openings in the typical Texas ranch. Too obvious to mention, almost, is the affinity the “W” has to certain other powerfully simple emblems of personal leadership that the 20th century is remembered for.

“Also worth a deconstructive glance is the country collection, styled ‘The Farm-Ranch Team.’ I am intrigued by the license plate with its evocative barbed-wire horizontal. What critters are y’all keeping in (or out) down there, Podner?”
