Roger Ariew, a distinguished historian of early modern philosophy at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, has been appointed Professor and Chair of the Department at the University of South Florida. In addition, Hugh LaFollette (applied ethics) has been appointed to the Cole Chair in Ethics at the St. Petersburg campus (formerly held by Peter French, now at Arizona State University), though I am told he will be available to graduate students at the main USF campus. He was previously at East Tennessee State University for many years.
