Tenure-track hiring by Philosophy Departments during 2004-05

UPDATE:  And again to the front from March 28–this is probably the last time I’ll move it to the top.

UPDATE:   Moving to the front from March 20.  Many thanks to all who have contributed placement information.

UPDATE:  Moving to the front from March 12.  Please continue to post information on junior hires as they come in.  NOTE:  many of the hires listed below are for faculty who have held other teaching posts, in some cases tenure-track teaching posts; only a minority are genuinely "rookie" (i.e., fresh out of grad school) tenure-track hires.  All, however, have been hired in to tenure-track (or equivalent) positions.

UPDATE:  Moving to the front from March 8.  Please continue to post information on junior hires as they come in.

UPDATE:  Moving to the front from March 3.  Please continue to post information on junior hires as they come in.

===================

I am opening comments on this thread for people to post news about junior, tenure-track hires in philosophy departments, i.e., hires made during this year of new assistant professors who will be starting in fall 2005.  No anonymous posts will be allowed.  The candidates themselves, dissertation advisors, placement directors, department chairs, or faculty members involved with the hiring or the placement of the candidate may all post information.  No hearsay, however:  you must have first-hand knowledge of the placement.  (Please e-mail me about any errors.)

The format of the postings should be as follows:  candidate’s name (name of PhD-granting school) hired by [name of school].  AOS:  ________.

Here’s an example of which I have first-hand knowledge:

John Bowin (Texas) hired by the University of California, Santa Cruz.  AOS:  Ancient Philosophy.

Remember:  tenure-track jobs only, no temporary jobs, no postdocs.
