The Coming Storm

Sky trailing gloom
lathered clouds roiling
like the grume                                                                  
  of spent soup boiled
the croup of thunder
groping upon the raspy                                                   
cusp of dark and
machinating storm
disrobing to extend
its carnal grasp
into the brooded nest
in which we frown
asleep beneath the warm
impenetrable dream
immune to harm
omnipotent for
night’s brief term
