…this recent book by Gary Gutting (Notre Dame) is a helpful antidote that you should give to your colleagues in other fields.  I'm more of a skeptic than Gutting about some of the claimed "progress" and "knowledge," but before one gets to skepticism one has to actually understand the target views, and Gutting helps readers, even non-philosphical readers, get that understanding.
