The Texas Plan to Destroy Higher Education

Reader David Frost flags this WSJ article about this manifestly absurd effort to monetize the worth of each professor, about which we have taken note before.  (Given the ideological agenda of WSJ, the article doesn't quite cut to the chase about what's going on here, though it does report some striking facts.)  Texas A&M, in fact, has some very strong faculties (especially, but not only, in the natural sciences and engineering), but these development seem guaranteed to send the best researchers elsewhere.  The WSJ article quotes the great visionary and thinker Bill Peacock, the point man from the Texas Public Policy Foundation for this embarrassment.  So far, UT Austin appears to have dodged this, perhaps only because the braindead Texas Governor, Rick Perry, is a Texas A&M alum, so has been more aggressive there.
