Australia Honors Singer, Murdoch Press Unhappy

Peter Singer was named a "Companion of the Order of Australia" in the Queen's Birthday honours list.  Dirk Baltzly (Monash), who flagged this for me, explains that, "AC is the highest rank within the Order of Australia. (I suppose it is about tantamount to a KBE in Britain, but without the ‘Sir’.) While several Australian philosophers have been honoured with an AO (David Armstong, Frank Jackson, for example), I think Singer joins JJC (Jack) Smart and John Passmore as the only philosophical ACs."  Professor Baltzly notes that the right-wing press isn't happy either!
