Now it's understandable why the University of Pittsburgh would do this:  they do have an excellent philosophy program, and this recognition (even if it's absurd, and comes from an absurd source) is a nice way of branding the University as a whole as academically serious (after all, only academically serious schools are excellent in philosophy).   At the same time, it is perverse, since it just legitimizes the Quirky Silliness rankings, which are, still, largely a fraud on the public.
