APA extends voting rights to graduate students

Announcement here.   Will this change the APA?  If so, how?   I've no idea!  Thoughts from readers welcome, especially those more engaged with the APA.

  1. Given that wokeness seems to correlate positively with youth, this could bode very ill for the organization, which already has a serious identity-politics problem. I very much hope I'm wrong about that.

  2. One possibility–remote, I think/hope–is that graduate students may feel compelled to vote in a certain way to impress people who have power over their career prospects. But, then again, that same possibility probably applies to tenured and tenure-track professors too!

  3. Since graduate students have an important stake in philosophy as a profession, they should have a say in the direction of the APA.
