Penn will not admit PhD students this coming year in any humanities/science fields

This is remarkable; we noted a couple of philosophy departments that were not admitting PhD students this year, but this is the first school-wide suspension of PhD admissions in the humanities and sciences.  Comments are open if readers know of other schools following a similar path; please include links.

  1. Rice University (School of Humanities) has sent out an email to folks who had started an application (I believe) stating that they will be pausing admissions to all five of its PhD programs which includes the philosophy department.

    Message from the department confirms this: https://philosophy.rice.edu/prospective-graduate-students

    Warwick (UK) confirmed with me via email that they will only be able to offer unfunded offers to their MA program this cycle.
