Since July 1, 2020, there have been 27 lateral moves reported on this blog: 12 women, and 15 men. (The prior year, for comparison, there were 48 lateral moves noted–my sense is that is more typical of yearly movement.) Based on what I've heard from readers together with my own judgment, these were probably the five most significant pick-ups in this year's lateral market:
Lucy Allais from UC San Diego to Johns Hopkins;
Johann Frick from Princeton to Berkeley;
Anthony Gillies from Rutgers to Arizona;
Greg Restall from Melbourne to St Andrews; and
a couple, Christian List and Laura Valentini from, respectively, LSE and KCL, to LMU Munich.
A couple of departments also made more than one senior hire this year: Texas hired both Connie Rosati from Arizona, and Karl Schafer from UC Irvine; while the ANU added both Garrett Cullity from Adelaide and Brian Hedden from Sydney. You can see all the lateral moves this past year in the "Philosophy Updates" category, in which this post also appears.
