“University of Austin” crackup begins

One advertised advisor, President Gordon Gee at West Virginia University, has already renounced some of the absurd claims being made about higher education on behalf of Lonsdale's project.  So many of the claims in the essay announcing it are absurd that I expect more prominent names will follow suit, or dissociate entirely.

Even more embarrassing is that one of the other advisors is an actual Catholic authoritarian, who does not believe in free speech or free inquiry.

ADDENDUM:  If the University of Austin wants to show it is serious about dissident opinions in the academy, it should appoint Norman Finkelstein, the political science professor fired from DePaul University, despite far exceeding its tenure standards, but punished because of his heterodox views about Israel.
