I made my Twitter account private a couple of weeks ago after an infestation of religious zealots, which grew tiresome.  I have to say I'm enjoying Twitter much more this way, without encounters with random stupid Twitterati, some of whom leave me feeling like I need a shower.  I'm happy to approve follower requests from philosophers, academics, and other normal folks with non-anonymous accounts.
