"Little Wing," by Derek & the Dominos is as much a part of the rock 'n' roll canon as Hendrix's own.
I'm less fond of it than of much of the Kronos Quartet's other work, but early on in their career they were into genre-blending, including a cover of "Purple Haze." Here's a live performance from much later than the original release of the studio recording.
Thanks, Gary, for those tips. "Angel" is in Lloyd's pocket. He covers a lot of great tunes. I'm not a fan of Lucinda Williams (nor of Rickie Lee Jones). I wish Lloyd had taken the melody of "Angel" on his own and kept the track instrumental. Saw his quartet with Bobo Stenson in Hollywood a long time ago. Spectacular.
