A mysterious surge in visits last week from Vietnam

It lasts several days, and involved thousands of unique visits, some of whom visited multiple pages of the blog.  I am guessing the blog must have been linked from some popular website or discussion board in Vietnam.  Can any readers from Vietnam shed light on this?  Thanks.

  1. I suspect that this is probably the website being 'scraped' for data that can be used to train AI systems.
This happened recently on the philpapers site: 1000s of visits from various different places in Vietnam and also Brazil.

  2. My guess is that it's related to the recent search in visits on PhilPapers. Vietnam and Brasil. Bots. No one knows why.

  3. surge, not search…

  4. Same for my pages on PhilPapers and Academia. Vietnam and Brazil.

  5. A Brazil-based bot network seems to have been scanning PhilPapers for a longer time. Very likely it's for AI training.
