Finding older posts, now that the Typepad links are broken (UPDATED)

MOVING TO FRONT FROM OCTOBER 16

A recent comment on an older post notes, correctly, that old intra-blog links based on the Typepad URLs no longer work, now that all these posts have migrated to WordPress, the current blog service provider. Readers should note that there is a search engine for the blog in the middle of the right-hand column (after the list of categories, and before the archives), where you can search for older posts at their new URL. In this case, for instance, if you search for “advice on personal statements” you will get the original post from 2007.

UPDATE: If you are searching for an old post–say the famous poll on “most important Western philosophers”– and you type the words in quotes into the search box, you will also pull up some “blast from the past” posts referring back to that poll. Unfortunately, the links in those posts will be to the now moribund Typepad URL–you need to scroll past those until you find the original post, which still exists on the new WordPress blog (the one you’re reading).
