Oy veh. This comes on the heels of cuts in prior years at Lincoln. This round of cuts will affect philosophy, among many other units. The British university system is in serious crisis (although not because of “market ideology” [as the preceding piece says], but because of an unstable halfway house between “market ideology” and full state support: namely, regulated tuition fees, well below what the market would bear, after the withdrawal of state support by the Tories).
