In Memoriam: Gabriele Taylor (1927-2026)

Dr. Taylor, who spent her career at Oxford University, where she was a fellow and tutor at St. Anne’s College, was best-known for her work in moral psychology and the philosophy of emotions. The St. Anne’s memorial notice is here. Philosopher Roger Crisp, who called this to my attention, notes that, “Her collected essays, as well as a memoir of her remarkable life, will be published next year, edited by her former student, Constantine Sandis.”

Comments are open for remembrances from those who knew Dr. Taylor or for those who would like to comment on the significance of her work.

  1. Gabriele Taylor was my undergraduate philosophy tutor at St Anne’s College, Oxford from 1989-1992. I remember her as an incisive philosopher, an interesting person, and an extremely kind and supportive tutor. She was much loved by her students. I am grateful to her for encouraging me to go into philosophy.
