Jonathan Dancy (ethics, epistemology, early modern) at the University of Reading has accepted a half-time appointment with tenure at the University of Texas at Austin, where he will teach for one semester each year (starting in January).
The last three years, as many have remarked, have brought about an extraordinary transformation to philosophy at Texas. We’ve added at the senior level, between philosophy and law, and either full-time or half-time, Mark Sainsbury, Michael Tye, John Deigh, Leslie Green, and now George Bealer and Jonathan Dancy. It wouldn’t have happened without two very good Deans: Richard Lariviere of the College of Liberal Arts and Bill Powers of the Law School.
