Peter Godfrey-Smith (philosophy of biology, philosophy of mind), Professor of Philosophy at Harvard University, has accepted a senior offer from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, where he will start in fall 2011.  That's a major pick-up for CUNY and, together with other recent appointments, is going to push the Graduate Center's PhD programs towards the US 'top ten,' as well as solidifying its status as a major center for naturalistic approaches to philosophical problems.
