I am sorry to report that Professor Haugeland, who just retired this Spring from the University of Chicago and whose distinguished career was marked by a conference this past May, has passed away. He was, of course, well-known for his many important contributions to philosophy of mind and artificial intelligence, as well as to the interpretation of Heidegger.
My former colleagues at another university in Middle East have also been moved to online teaching indefinitely, with the students…
