  1. Bitter, Jaded Anon. Job Seeker

Job seekers: the placement office (which is located in the Westin hotel, a good 10 minute walk from the conference registration desk located on the 4th floor of the Marriott—good thinkin' there!) is basically useless and a waste of your time. Thus far, only two schools—SUNY Cortland and the University of Michigan at Flint—are accepting on-site interview requests. If you aren't interested in either job, you have no reason to go. The line is averaging about 15 minutes wait. Check in tomorrow afternoon perhaps.

  2. Schools that have officially canceled their scheduled APA interviews:

    Frostburg State University
    Lawrence University
    UNC-Chapel Hill

(I have heard rumors of other search committee chairs contacting interviewees about cancellations, but cannot independently confirm them.)

Schools that have checked in with the APA Placement Service:

    American University of Cairo
    Cal. State Fullerton
    Eastern Michigan
    Florida International
    Hunter College
    Illinois Wesleyan
    Lingnan University
    Purdue University
    Siena College
    Suffolk University
    Tufts University
    University of Michigan, Flint
    University of Texas, El Paso
    Villanova
    Wayne State University

  3. To anyone from the Wofford College interviewing committee: please contact me regarding one of our job candidates who will not make it to Boston in time for their interview on Tuesday afternoon, but would be keen to reschedule, if possible.

    Thanks,

    Susanna Siegel
    Harvard Philosophy dept

  4. To anyone from the Stanford or Purdue hiring committees: please contact me regarding one of our job candidates who will not make it to Boston in time for their interviews with you on Tuesday, but who would be keen to reschedule, if possible.

    Thanks,

    Ram Neta
    UNC-Chapel Hill

  5. Another school that has had to cancel interviews because of the incliment weather is U. of Arkansas at Little Rock.

  6. George Mason's interview committee has not checked in yet but we will there as scheduled. Candidates, please let us know if you're not going be there.

    Ted Kinnaman
    George Mason

  7. Bowling Green State University has checked in with placement and will be conducting interviews as scheduled for all candidates able to make it to Boston.

  8. Western Kentucky has also canceled their scheduled interviews.

  9. DePauw University has checked in with APA placement and will conduct scheduled interviews with all candidates who can make it. Candidates who cannot make it to their scheduled interview should contact us to discuss possible re-scheduling or other options (please use the contact information included in the pre-interview email you received from us).

    Erik Wielenberg, DePauw University

  10. Weber State University has checked in with placement and will conduct interviews as scheduled. For those with interviews scheduled who are not able to make it to Boston, we will be contacting you to set up Skype or phone interviews shortly. For those who make it to Boston, but are not able to make their scheduled time, contact us to reschedule (we have some available times in the evenings).

    Richard Greene, Weber State University

  11. University of Houston is here and although we have not yet checked in at the Placement Desk, we have been in touch with all of our interviewees and found that, amazingly enough, all but one of them have made it here. We will reschedule the other person. Some of the planned interviews have had to be switched from today to later in the week.
