Wash U/St. Louis Makes Bid for Pitt’s Machery (UPDATED: Machery to Remain at Pitt)

MOVING TO FRONT FROM 1/20/11–SEE UPDATE

Edouard Machery (philosophy of psychology and cognitive science), Associate Professor of the History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Pittsburgh, has been offered a senior position and Directorship of the welll-known Philosophy-Psychology-Neuroscience Program at Washington University in St. Louis.  Students interested in cognitive science considering either Pitt or Wash U will want to keep an eye on what  happens here.

UPDATE:  Machery also now has a senior offer from the Department of Philosophy at the University of California at San Diego.

FINAL UPDATE:  Machery has declined the offers and will remain at Pitt.
