The Ten Happiest Countries

As determined through statistically robust scientific methods, of course:

1.  Denmark

2.  Canada

3.  Norway

4.  Australia

5.  Netherlands

6.  Sweden

7.  Switzerland

8.  Finland

9.  Israel

10. Austria

No United States, of course.  Or Pakistan.  Or Saudia Arabia.  Go figure.

Also the 24/7 Wall St. people came up with some measure of their own, which they don't explain. If you look just at life satisfaction, then the US comes out (I think) 10th equal (with New Zealand).

One thing I don't understand about the US is how you guys are so happy when your society is dysfunctional in so many ways (of course, the UK isn't *much* better). This is one of the mysteries Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett fail to explain in their otherwise brilliant book *The Spirit Level*.
