Attitudes towards “socialism” by undergraduate major

This is a curious study that several readers have sent along.  Philosophy majors lean more left than finance majors (who would have guessed?), but it's unclear whether this shows anything about "socialism" per se since it's unclear whether respondents all shared the same understanding.  One suspects that many respondents were thinking of what Europeans would call "social democracy"–regulated market economy with strong protections for workers and trade unions, together with extensive social insurance programs–since the best known "socialist" in America, Senator Sanders, is really just a social democrat, much like FDR.
