In Memoriam: Barry Stroud (1935-2019)

MOVING TO FRONT (ORIGINALLY POSTED AUGUST 10)–UPDATED

A longtime member of the faculty at Berkeley, Professor Stroud wrote widely and influentially on both historical and systematic topics, including skepticism, Hume, Wittgenstein, and realism.  I will add links to memorial notices as they appear.

UPDATE:   Some charming photos courtesy of one of his daughters.

ANOTHER: A video of a conversation between Stroud and Donald Davidson.  (I owe this link to Andy Carpenter on FB.)

MORE:  An initial brief memorial notice from the Berkeley department.

A PHILOSOPHICALLY SUBSTANTIAL MEMORIAL by philosopher John Schwenkler (Florida State).

MORE:   An informative obituary from the University of California, Berkeley.  (Thanks to Julie Stroud for the pointer.)
