University of Chicago delays start of Winter Quarter one week…

…and the first two weeks of instruction thereafter will be online.  (The Law School is not delayed, so we will be online for three weeks.)   Chicago recorded over 5,000 new cases today, double from what it was a week ago, and five times what it was two weeks ago.   I'm sure the story is similar in many other places.  If the Omicron surge follows the South Africa pattern in and around Johannesburg, then we'll peak in about two weeks or so (at 20,000 new cases per day?) and it will start to decline…so we hope!
