Professor Ashworth, a Distinguished Professor Emerita at the University of Waterloo, was a renowned expert on medieval logic and philosophy of language. The Waterloo page has more about her work, and there is a brief memorial notice at the Medieval Logic Facebook group. Comments are open for remembrances from those who knew Professor Ashworth or for those who wish to comment on the significance of her work.

No personal recollections of Professor Ashworth who I have never met, but just a testimonial to the quality of her work. I found it very useful in getting to grips with a logical theory of the early modern period as background to my research on Hume on Is and Ought. She read a great many medieval and early modern logic texts so that we won't have to.
