More book production errors

A propos an earlier post about when the production process for a book goes awry, philosopher Brian O’Connor writes:

[T]his entry prompted me to share one horrendous mistake that occasionally crops up in academic publishing: putting the picture of the wrong person on the cover.

This is neither Adorno nor Wagner but is likely to be Charles Auguste de Bériot. (The irony of the title.)

  1. The example Brian O’Conner presented reminded me immediately of Gang of Four being featured on the back cover of the Mekon’s first record, “The Quality of Mercy Is Not Strnen.” I considered asking Springer if I could put the same Gang of Four image on the back of Gentzen’s Logical Calculi, but the Straive errors they sprung on me were so overwhelming (in line with the sorts of things others have reported) that even I couldn’t muster the nerve to make the proposal.
