Dear Prof. [omitted],

Hope this e-mail finds you well.

We are setting up “Section Collections”, which are collections of papers that concentrate on specific multidisciplinary topics and are organized and led by category experts who take on the role of Section Editor of the project. With diverse backgrounds that cover the various facets of the research topic, we believe that the project “Section Collections” offer an effective way to present your research, thereby help readers and authors to search the publications with congeneric topics.

On behalf of the Editorial Office, we are contacting you to find out whether you are interested in serving as Section Editor of the below mentioned Sections. You may invite your friends or colleagues to co-edit and set the submission deadline according to your time schedule.

Section Collections:

(1) Phenomenology

(7) Ethics and Values

(2) Philosophy of Mind, Consciousness and Action

(8) Aesthetics

(3) Philosophy of Language and Culture

(9) Philosophy of Logic

(4) Epistemology and Ontology

(10) Political Philosophy

(5) Philosophy of Race and Religion

(11) Philosophy of Science

(6) Philosophy of Gender

(12) Philosophy of Life and Health

(13) History and Future of Philosophy

As part of our ongoing intention to create new and beneficial open access publication opportunities, FPS would like to present here the benefits of its Section Collections program.

Benefits for Sections editors

  • Sections enhance editors’ network of scientific collaboration;
  • Editors can gain insights into trends and growth areas within their areas of research and beyond;
  • Editors can find out how cutting-edge topical sections, presented in an open-access resource, increase research impact;
  • Sections further strengthen cooperation between fellows in various disciplines.

Benefits for authors

  • Authors can submit to the same Sections and benefit from broader readership and visibility;
  • Authors can discover multi-disciplinary applications and develop new ideas;
  • Sections help to share reviews, original articles, case reports, opinions, and perspectives for interdisciplinary topics
  • Sections disseminate research focusing on specific interdisciplinary themes more widely and more efficiently;
  • Sections allow authors from different research areas to unite around one subject.

Could you let me know if you are interested in one of those projects?

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

Kind regards,

Managing Editor

As the philosopher who shared this with me aptly put it:  "This looks like an attempt to capitalize on the name of the journal.  The lone member of the editorial board is a professor of applied linguistics and Japanese."  Philosophers beware!
